Fun on the Farm with Stuart – Jan. Issue

Welcome to Fun on the Farm !

Hi, my name is Stuart and I’m the Farm Dog on Falster Farm! I live and work on my owner’s farm in East Texas.

I love having all sorts of fun and adventures; plus, I have an important job to do as “The Night Watch”. I really like kids so I thought this monthly newsletter might be the best way to get to know you and you can meet me.

This is my first letter and I hope you enjoy it and those to follow. Thank you for joining me and I look forward to getting to know you over the next months. I know I’ll learn a lot and I’m sure you will, too!
I hope you had a great Holiday Season and Christmas break. If you exchanged gifts during this time, this is a great time to say, “Thank You”  and make a card to give to the folks who thought enough of you to give you a gift. It is fun to let others know you appreciate being thought of.

It is polite to say thank you when you receive a gift of any kind :-).

If you do not exchange gifts at this time, how about making a card for your birthday gifts? You could even make a card for your mom or your caregiver and thank them for making breakfast every day!

There are all sorts of reasons and ways to say “Thank You”. Can you think of some?

Send me an email with your ideas to . I’ll print the first few in my next Fun on the Farm to share with others.

Here’s my thank you for great tasting bones!

NOW, for your “Thank You Card”: take a piece of paper and trace your hand.

Then print T – H – A –  N –  K  in each finger and a big Y – O – U in the palm.

Under it write: for my _______________________.

Sign your name. See? Easy and very nice! Everyone who gets your hand print will be happy and pleased.

All that work made me tired AND hungry, how about a snack? I Love to eat popcorn and although I only get a few bites, they sure are good. You’ll need an adult to help because in Grancy’s ( that’s what the grand-kids call my owner so I do, too) farm kitchen, we make popcorn on the stove:

Simply heat a few tablespoons of coconut oil over medium heat in a pot with a lid and add a kernel or two of popcorn.   When the corn pops, add about 1/3 a cup of kernels and place the lid over your pot.   Agitate the pot over the flame or heat ring until the sound of popping slows, then remove it from the heat.   Pour the corn into a bowl and top with plenty of melted butter. Toss in some unrefined sea salt. Now eat up and enjoy! Have a napkin handy to wipe your fingers!

What are some of your favorite snacks? Send me a list to and if I like them, too, I’ll print some up in Feb. Fun on the Farm.

Hey, if you’d like my pawtograph for FREE, send me a self-addressed envelope and I’ll mail you my best paw print, with my business card, to boot! Send your stamped envelope here:

Here’s a favorite joke I love to tell because this is what I am:

What farm animal keeps the best time? A watch dog!

Here’s one of the cows I watch over on the farm! See the chickens in the background?

Which reminds me, stay tuned for my first book that will be coming out early summer. It is the first in my series, “Adventures of Farm Dog Stuart”.

I can’t wait! You are going to love it! Grancy is my author and she works with my illustrator, Molly Nichols and editor, Andrea Bithell. All of us are working very hard to put together the best bits about my adventures here on the farm based on real-life happenings for you to read and enjoy.

The best part is, every book sold will have a portion of the proceeds given to a foster agency for dogs AND a foster-to-adopt agency for kids, too! The agencies chosen for the first book:

http://www.trulight127.org/, this is the agency that helped bring “Rooster” into our family.

These are very important to me for special reasons, but we’ll talk more about that later.

I look forward to getting your emails. Until next time – remember,

Be the best you can be – like me.

I enjoy being a dog, what do you like about your life? Send me a note to
